Carved from nature. Steeped in meaning.
This is not a cast ring. It is not machine-made. Every curve, every hollow, every detail of this Dark Decay Skull Ring has been carved by hand — from darkened deer antler, one of nature's most ancient and symbolic materials. The result is a piece that is genuinely, irreplaceably one of a kind.
Craftsmanship & Material
Deer antler has been used by humans for tens of thousands of years — as tool, as talisman, as art. Dense, durable, and naturally beautiful, it takes on extraordinary detail under a skilled hand. Our artisans in Dorset, UK darken each piece to draw out the depth of the carving, giving the finished ring a rich, organic character that no two pieces share. Available in two hand-carved editions: the Decay skull, with its eroded, raw aesthetic, and the Full Skull, bold and complete in form.
History & Meaning
The skull is the oldest and most universal of memento mori symbols — found carved into ancient stonework, painted across Renaissance canvases, and worn as jewellery across cultures for centuries. From the Latin "remember that you must die," memento mori was never a counsel of despair. It was an invitation to live more deliberately, more fully, and with greater awareness of what truly matters.
Carved from antler — itself shed, regrown, and shed again — this ring carries that philosophy in its very material. Renewal and decay, side by side.
